Living in Fulshear, Texas

Fulshear is a fast-growing city in northern Fort Bend County, just southwest of Katy. Its population grew from about 700 people in 2000 to nearly 17,000 at the 2020 Census, and it has kept growing quickly since. Buyers come for newer homes, larger lots, and master-planned communities like Cross Creek Ranch, Jordan Ranch and Fulshear Lakes, while the historic downtown keeps a small-town feel.

A Fulshear mailing address does not always mean a home is inside the city limits; some neighborhoods sit in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The homes on this page are those with a Fulshear address.

A Little Fulshear History

Fulshear traces its roots to 1824, when Churchill Fulshear, one of Stephen F. Austin's "Old Three Hundred" colonists, received a land grant in what is now Fort Bend County. His son, Churchill Fulshear Jr., a veteran of the Texas Revolution, ran a horse-racing track called Churchill Downs on the family property from 1850 to 1870. When the railroad arrived in 1888, the town of Fulshear grew up around it. Fulshear incorporated as a city in 1977 and celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2024.

Schools

Fulshear-area homes are zoned to either Katy ISD or Lamar Consolidated ISD, depending on location; the original Fulshear schools merged into Lamar CISD in 1948. Because the dividing line runs through the area, confirm a home's school assignment with the district's boundary tool before you buy.
